However, taking the lines you mentioned, if coming from the perspective of a Believer in a transcendent God and a follower of Christ (my worldview), I don’t know that he’s being as heretical as you imply. Scripture does teach that God causes all things to work together for good to them that love God and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28). That’s not a stretch if there is a God. That would speak to quotes 1 and 2. James said that every good and perfect gift comes down from the Father of lights (again, a good God can do that). That’s quote 3. The Apostle Paul said that we are more than overcomers through Christ in Romans 8…comment 4 (see prior reasoning). I do believe that God has a perfect plan, comment 5, which I don’t see as “prosperity” or unorthodox. Further, though it’s not a universal principle and doesn’t always play out the way I want, if you do things the right way (God’s way), more likely than not, good things happen (let’s define what good means, according to my worldview–that which is ultimately/eternally good and according to God’s perfect plan, though we’re not talking about a works-based system here). Obviously, if you are atheist, you have no real basis for objective good and bad (it HAS to be arbitrary to you, though I doubt you live as though it is…I’m right, aren’t I?) I think we find that kind of perspective in many of the Proverbs…statements generally true but not universal in all situation.

OK, not playing devils advocate here because I don’t work for him, but I am taking a different perspective to show you that his heart may not be as black as you have painted it. Nor does your lack of faith (I checked out your blog, too.) dictate that what he has said is without merit just because your worldview doesn’t think it is. I can see, though, where you would feel a little bit bloated, especially since you claim to know beyond any shadow of a doubt that there are absolutely “no gods or spirits.” Logically, I think that would, by necessity, make you omniscient, right? Hey, maybe that makes you god…just joking with you. I know you’re not God. It does make you a person of GREAT faith, though, (misplaced though it may be) since you’re trusting in the UNBELIEVABLY low probability that you know all things both physical and spiritual. Good on ya, though, I guess. Though I didn’t spend much time on your blog, I couldn’t make heads or tails of it…there wasn’t much coherent, meaning only that it didn’t address life as we live it…it was sort of philosophical blather, and I don’t mean that offensive, it’s just that any worldview has to relate to the world as we experience it and I didn’t see much of that. Yours, as best I can tell, doesn’t really account for things like love and self-sacrifice, good and evil, or even reason, except to say we’re all essentially mental, making up things to make ourselves feel better. I can’t even see how you account for the creativity and thought process necessary for our being able to do that!

Anyway, is Brees legit? I have absolutely no idea…I don’t know the man, personally. Did it make me nauseous because I don’t know his heart? Nope. But neither do you (respectfully). Your worldview has caused you to make some pretty arrogant statements (not to say they are mean, just pretty bold) that probably don’t speak to how you really come across to people in real life. I bet you’re a really nice guy.

Everything he says is wrong except the last sentence. So, if it is his good actions that people admire, I get that, but should we be so uncritical to accept all the rest?
