In case we haven’t met, I’m a pastor and writer who loves to challenge and encourage people to test their beliefs, to develop a realistic worldview, and then to help them live that out consistently in posts that are often (but not always!<\/em>) 300 words or less in length. You can read this 300-word post<\/a> for more insight on why.<\/p>\n As a pastor, I’m writing from a Christian worldview.\u00a0 That’s not only because of my own faith-heritage but because I’ve found the Christian worldview to be the only one able to deal most consistently with the world that we actually live in. If it doesn’t offer real answers to real questions, what’s the point?<\/p>\n I also try to help people understand how to navigate the hills and valleys that come our way in life. Challenges are a part of life and my experience has been that it is during those times of challenges and trials\u2014what I often refer to as wilderness experiences\u2014that are the greatest times of growth.<\/p>\n From time-to-time, I will tackle a current event and analyze it according to its worldview assumptions.\u00a0 Sometimes, I may just point you to an article I consider a must-read. Regardless of the content, my goal is to address issues with grace and kindness and to foster healthy, friendly dialogue.<\/p>\n I\u2019ve been called an \u201cold soul.\u201d I believe \u201cclassics\u201d are often best and men should be gentlemen, so you\u2019ll read some essays and posts that relate to how to be one in the 21st Century and, as a lover of old jazz and good coffee, you\u2019ll probably see something on those subjects in the mix, too! \u00a0Other times, I\u2019ll just share some exercises in creative writing or simple thoughts as they come to me that maybe you\u2019ll find interesting or thought-provoking.<\/p>\n I serve as the Lead Pastor of The Gathering, Chattanooga<\/a>, a church I’ve led since 2006. I am blessed with a wonderful wife and two great kids (both of whom are growing up entirely too fast!).<\/p>\n I had the privilege of studying at Southern Seminary<\/a> where I earned a Master of Divinity (MDiv) in Theology and a Master of Theology (ThM) in Apologetics and Worldviews.
