The beach. The mountains. The dinner table when some really great conversation has just happened. The bedside of a dying family member or close friend. Each of these are places that, for one reason or another, you just don’t want to leave.

I experienced one of them Wednesday night. We were having our praying time in the chapel at The Gathering and I got to a place where I was just sitting in the presence of God. I knew I was. I could feel Him there and I was enjoying every minute of it. Having spent time in prayer and the Word, I was enjoying the total atmosphere of quiet, personal worship with the music softly playing and other around me praying. But this was my time with God. I was just enjoying being still, knowing that He is God.

Sometimes we demand great movements or emotional experiences in order to feel like we’ve been in God’s manifest presence. So, often, though, it’s just about being still enough and long enough for us to get to the place of hearing the quiet hint of His presence.

Have you ever experienced this? You need to. There’s no comparison. In your crazy busy life, make sure you are carving out enough time to clear out the images and noise in your mind and focus on the One who created you.

“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10
