It’s a hard time of life. You’re not a “little kid” anymore but you’re not a teenager, either. They call them the “tween years,” which I think means you are lost somewhere between the whacky childhood years and the chaotic teen years.
Whatever it is, today our Andrew officially enters his last year of the former before launching into the latter. Though it is nearly impossible to believe, our amazing little boy is quickly growing into an amazing young man.
Like the rest of us, he has his share of struggles, flaws, and things that make us scratch our heads, but I love what I see God doing in his life. He is compassionate, caring, fast to make friends, and quick to make amends when he realizes he’s wrong (and always ready to forgive when he’s been wronged).
Of course we cannot know all that is in store for Andrew in the future, but I’m hopeful it’s going to be great, and I pray God continues to let Karen and me be a part of it. He is a blessing to us and we are so thankful for that little Tennessee boy who completed our family twelve years ago today, only a few months after making Chattanooga our home. I can’t imagine a better housewarming gift from God!
Happy birthday, Andrew! We love you!
