As a pastor, I have always tried to be apolitical. I don’t talk about who I vote for and have never encouraged voting for or against politicians. I think my job is to speak to the world from a biblical worldview perspective rather than a partisan one. I still do.
I don’t like politics as I used to years ago. There was the freedom to look at individual politicians of different parties because they were less idiological and more thoughtful. Some I agreed with and some I didn’t in both parties according to my worldview.
The world has changed, though. That freedom no longer exists. There is no fully
satisfying choice for a Christian, but i don’t look at politicians according to “lesser of two evils” or voting third party for conscience sake.
My conscience convicts me to vote according to the greatest chance for the worldview I hold to. So, as far as my civic duties go, I still vote but I no longer vote according to individual politicians who come and go—some I like and some I don’t. I now vote strictly according to worldview considerations. There is, unfortunately, no longer a middle ground.
